(B205) John Elliot, the senior partner at Sylvester Mackett, solicitors at Castle House,  Castle St. A larger than life character who worked in litigation as a defence lawyer.

His ability  was recognised and he was asked to be a judge but declined as he preferred to  stand up and defend the accused. John could not  join the Rotary Club in Trowbridge, as they already had a solicitor member. So he  formed his own Rotary Club in Bradford on Avon and was the first President.
