(D445) A schoolboy from The Clarendon School showing an interest in photography. Word had got round that i was taking photographs of Trowbridge, and Mr White, the headteacher, asked if I would like to run an after school photography class.

Stephen Lovering writes – D456 Stan Champion I think ? can only remember him wearing an advertising board.  He had a mate called Jon who also used to walk round town advertising

(D461) Delivering fresh fruit and veg to Berry’s shop in Wicker Hill.

 

(D463) A cold and foggy morning in Wicker Hill. Looking up past Barclays Bank to Lloyds in Fore St.  Barclays was a newcomer bank to this region. Lloyds bank had got there first and had splendid branch office buildings in Devizes, Chippenham, Westbury, Warminster, Melksham and had long been the bank for the rural and farming community.

 

(D465) A view of Handle House astride the River Biss. What is the history of this place?

Steve Lovering writes – D465 ‘Handle House’ This building was part of Studley Mills  J & T Clark.  It was used to dry the Teasels . There is another small teasel drying room in Union St.
